NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville authorities took two men into custody Thursday night who reportedly evaded a traffic stop with drugs—namely methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana—and a gun inside their car.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), a Cadillac sedan had a license plate that came back to a Nissan Titan pickup truck, which prompted a traffic stop at Elm Hill Pike and Donelson Pike on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Authorities said the Cadillac drove off at a high rate of speed before Violent Crimes Division detectives tried to disable the car with spike strips. The Cadillac swerved in an attempt to avoid the strips, but it crashed into a drainage culvert and then a residential fence on Kings Lane.
Officials said the driver, 27-year-old Jeremy Bowden, ran from the Cadillac, but he was quickly taken into custody. Meanwhile, the passenger—identified by police as 58-year-old David Kinnard—complied and was also arrested.
Law enforcement recovered a loaded handgun near the car, as well as a handbag outside the driver’s door with crystal meth, plastic pipes, and other small baggies inside. Authorities said they also found a glass pipe, a scale, fentanyl, and other types of drugs in the Cadillac.
According to officials, Bowden, who was convicted of aggravated robbery in 2019, was charged with more than a dozen drug, traffic, and weapons-related charges. As of Friday, Feb. 28, he’s still in jail on a $105,000 bond.
As for Kinnard, police said he’s being held on a $4,000 bond for two counts of drug possession.
No additional details have been released about Thursday night’s incident.
