MACON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Macon County Sheriff’s Office investigated a possible threat made by a junior high school student Thursday.
The school resource officer and principal at Macon County Junior High School became aware of a possible threat by a student there Thursday and “immediately searched and questioned the student upon learning of the threat,” the Macon County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies and detectives searched the student’s home Thursday evening, conducting a threat assessment and investigating more leads. Ultimately, they determined there was no credible threat at the time.
“Thank you to the public for providing information about the threat,” a Facebook post from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office reads, in part. “The Sheriff’s Office will continue to take these cases seriously to provide the safest environment possible for our schools.”
Earlier this week, Greenbrier Middle School was placed on lockdown due to a bomb threat. After a sweep by police, nothing was found. Last month, several students were arrested for making threats against schools at districts across Middle Tennessee — including in Metro Nashville Public Schools.
