NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A second suspect has been charged in the shooting death of a teenager who was shot while riding in the backseat of a car in South Nashville last year.
On Dec. 1, 2024, Ashley Dominguez, 18, was fatally shot at an “after-hours club” in the 900 block of Murfreesboro Pike. A witness reported hearing a heated argument before shots were fired into a vehicle with five people inside. Dominguez and two 19-year-old women were injured. They were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Dominguez died.
Officers arrested 20-year-old Christian Pierre Wednesday in connection with the shooting. According to court documents, Pierre walked into Murfreesboro Pike with a rifle and fired multiple shots into the vehicle as it was driving away.
The driver kept driving and pulled into an office building parking lot in the 1300 block of Murfreesboro Pike after realizing Dominguez and two 19-year-olds had been injured.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the shooting after video footage of the shooting and allowed for Yariel Sandoval, of Clarksville, to be developed as a suspect. Sandoval was taken into custody in Clarksville on his outstanding warrants for criminal homicide, among other charges.
Pierre was charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide and probation violation. His bond was set at $2 million.
“So many families are destroyed by somebody else’s decision to pull a trigger,” said Melissa Alvarez-Zabriskie, founder of the Tennessee Hispanic Action Network. It’s also important to keep them in our thoughts and our considerations that the holiday season isn’t always happy for everybody, especially families that have been that have been destroyed by gun violence.”
Dominguez was one of seven siblings. Her hobbies included singing, dancing and spending time with her loved ones. She graduated high school in May 2024 and planned to travel the world.
