BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are investigating a stabbing that led to a shooting Wednesday afternoon in a Brentwood neighborhood.
The Brentwood Police Department said officers were called to the area of Lost Hollow Drive at approximately 1:17 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a man who was stabbing a woman.

Before officers arrived, a neighbor — who was reportedly armed with a handgun — attempted to physically intervene but was unable to stop the suspect from stabbing the woman.
Police said that’s when the neighbor shot the suspect multiple times in front of several witnesses.
Both the victim and suspect were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after emergency personnel arrived at the scene, officials said.
According to police, the woman is expected to recover from her injuries. Meanwhile, the suspect was taken into surgery to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
Officials added no charges have been filed, but an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
