NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A couple in the Hermitage area said they’re worried after their surveillance system recorded what appears to be a group of people breaking into cars around South Trace Boulevard.
The footage from Friday, Feb. 21 shows an individual rummaging through a white Ford truck and the same person or another person running around the neighborhood, which is located less than half a mile off Old Hickory Boulevard.
“At least 30 seconds and they were just boom, boom, boom, boom — real quick,” said John Boyle, the owner of the truck.
The security video also shows a car with flashing lights sitting in the middle of the road. The couple told News 2 they reported the incident to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).
“They were so fast. They knew what they were doing. You could tell they did it before,” Tamatha Boyle said. “They had flashlights and they ran from car to car to car, and hit all these cars within what? Just a few minutes.”
The Boyles said they’re working with their neighbors to see if they can raise reward money to help identify the individuals. In the meantime, they’ll make sure all their car doors are locked and valuables are out.
While no cars were reported stolen in this case, there have been 753 auto thefts reported in Nashville between Jan. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 22, according to MNPD data.
