NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) provided an update ahead of frigid temperatures in Thursday’s forecast.
The OEM conducted cold patrols Wednesday and provided:
- 68 blankets
- 47 cold weather kits
- 30 bottles of water
- 11 stranded assists
- 5 assists directing people to WeGo so they could find shelter
- 2 clearing of abandoned vehicles
- 1 fire assist on Nolensville Pike
Additionally, the agency noted trash collection would not be provided Thursday and convenience centers will be closed Thursday. Trash typically picked up on Wednesdays will tentatively be picked up Friday and trash typically picked up on Thursdays will tentatively be picked up Saturday. Recycling should be held until the next scheduled collection day as no recycling services will be provided throughout the remainder of the week.
The office urged anyone who has to drive to take precautions, adding the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) has been working since Monday to treat roadways and will continue to treat regular routes and known trouble spots. WeGo will operate on a Saturday service and snow route detours Thursday.
Though Metro Social Services will remain closed Thursday, general sessions court, the Metro Nashville Davidson County Office of Family Safety and the Metro Public Health Department will be open.
