SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKRN) — Through conducting a survey of storm damage, the National Weather Service confirmed there was an EF1 tornado in Simpson County, Kentucky Saturday.
Damage indicated the tornado had winds with top speeds of 90 miles per hour. The path was about five or six miles west of Franklin, Kentucky. A spokesperson for the National Weather Service told News 2 the tornado’s path length and width will be finalized later Tuesday afternoon after the survey team returns.

As of publication, News 2’s sister station FOX 56 has reported at least 14 deaths as a result of this weekend’s severe weather. Governor Andy Beshear also told Kentuckians to stay warm as snow and sub-zero windchills are forecast for parts of the state.

“Let’s remember that this 14 fatalities is not just a number,” Beshear said during a Tuesday update. “These are children of God. These are Kentuckians that are missed by their families and by their communities.”
