HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — This weekend’s weather event left a popular Hendersonville restaurant flooded.
The lunch and dinner crowd usually fills up Jake’s Southern Diner in Hendersonville, famous for their Reuben sandwiches and catfish. However, over the weekend, heavy downpours flooded the restaurant. Owner Jason Kinnaman said he looked at his camera and saw that his restaurant had flooded.
“The whole dining room was flooded with maybe two to three inches,” Kinnaman said. “The bar area [and] the entry way was [flooded with] probably around four inches and the front of the parking lot was just a hot mess.”
That wasn’t all — the restaurant’s kitchen got the worst of the water damage.
“The kitchen took the main hit of it — probably around six to eight inches,” Kinnaman said. “The shed, the walk-in freezer, took on about six to eight inches.”
Kinnaman started cleaning Sunday, but the process continued into Monday.
“We probably put in around fifty hours…” Kinnaman said. “We turned on the radio and just went and bought shop vacs and more mops from Sam’s Club and got it knocked out.”
Kinnamantold News 2 he’s ready to get back to serving his customers.
“This is a little bit of a blow, but we’ll rebound and we’re just going to keep on cooking good food,” Kinnaman said.
Kinnaman plans to reopen the beloved restaurant Tuesday and thanked the community for helping make the quick turnaround possible.
