NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Belmont University is reminding students and staff to remain vigilant following at least three separate incidents involving “suspicious persons.”
According to officials at the university, the most recent incident took place Friday morning at approximately 8:35 a.m. when a female student was approached by a black Mitsubishi SUV with temporary tags near the intersection of Caldwell Avenue and 15th Avenue.
The driver and passenger of the Mitsubishi reportedly made “inappropriate and crude remarks” to the student and suggested that she get into the car.
However, officials said the student refused and ran to the Massey Center, adding that the vehicle then left the area.
School officials added a similar incident happened on Dec. 11, 2024, involving a staff member in the Bunch Library. As well as another incident that took place on Dec. 12, 2024 near Compton Avenue and the South Garage, which reportedly involved a student.
The university said the Metro Nashville Police Department and Campus Security are investigating the incidents.
In the meantime, school officials are reminding students and staff to stay alert, remain aware of your surroundings, travel in groups, use the security escort service on campus and to immediately report any suspicious activity.
