NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — For the second time, one East Nashville family has dealt with the consequences of hit-and-run drivers speeding through their neighborhood, telling News 2 their car was parked in their driveway when it was hit.
Though homeowner Jordan Hale loves her East Nashville home, it comes with a possible deal breaker.

“Of course, the first thought when this happened was ‘We should move. This isn’t safe,'” Hale said. “I don’t want to leave because this is my home. This is my community and I love the people here.”
Hale said cars continue to run a stop sign in her neighborhood, which has caused her car to be damaged in hit-and-run crashes twice in two years. The latest crash happened last week in broad daylight.
“This is our home and someone could hurt somebody if myself or my child or someone else was out here playing in the yard,” Hale said.
Hale has been worried about her family’s safety, so she has reached out to Metro Council and the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT). Officials told her they were looking into adding warning signage approaching the sign.
“It’s encouraging to see that we have support via our councilmember and that the city is serious about trying to put in some safety measures [to] try to prevent this from happening again,” Hale said.
Unfortunately, Hale was unable to capture information about the alleged hit-and-run driver and hopes a neighbor did.
“We’re new parents, so we don’t have a lot of extra time, so we hadn’t even charged our Ring camera,” Hale said. “We didn’t get to see anything from that footage.”
Hale added that lights have been installed on the home to make it more visible to drivers. The addition of signage would be up to NDOT.
