GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The City of Goodlettsville recognized and honored a 7-year-old who alerted officials to a house fire last year.
Jackson Andrews saw smoke coming from an East Cynthia Drive home on Dec. 30, 2024 and ran to wake his sleeping grandfather. The family that owned the home was safe and Andrews’ actions limited the damage to the house.
“I was trying to look into my mailbox for something and I saw the house was smoking,” Andrews previously told News 2.
Andrews was honored with a plaque from the city at Thursday’s Board of Commissioners meeting for his bravery during the incident.
“Fire Chief Reeves and the Goodlettsville Fire Department, Police Chief Goodwin and City Manager Ellis and the Board of Commissioners, presented Jackson with challenge coins and a proclamation from the city,” a Facebook post from the City of Goodlettsville read, in part. “Great job, Jackson!”
