MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — What started as a simple traffic stop Sunday afternoon resulted in the arrests of two men from Mt. Juliet, according to authorities.
The Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) said an officer stopped a vehicle on Sunday, Feb. 9 for failing to maintain its lane. However, during the traffic stop, the officer discovered an unreported shoplifting incident that had just happened at Lowe’s.
Officials said the 34-year-old driver admitted to stealing the merchandise. In addition, police learned the 37-year-old passenger had an active warrant for violation of probation, as well as a sealed felony indictment for the resale of methamphetamine out of Wilson County.
According to law enforcement, further investigation led to the discovery of marijuana, meth, cocaine, and a firearm inside the car.
“Just like in today’s big game, our officers are always ready to tackle crime head-on,” the MJPD posted on social media. “Those who choose to commit crimes in Mt. Juliet will be held accountable.”
Authorities said both men were taken into custody and booked into the Wilson County Jail. However, police did not share the individuals’ names or the charges they face.
