NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police arrested a man accused of breaking into an East Nashville church and stealing equipment to sell, according to court documents.
Thomas Danson, 59, was arrested Tuesday, three days after he allegedly broke into Life Church on Broadmoor Drive. Authorities said the burglary occurred around 4:25 a.m. on Feb. 1.
Danson was reportedly captured on surveillance video breaking a side window and entering the building. Reports said he entered the kitchen and picked up food before going to other parts of the church. He allegedly acquired several dark-colored cases and a flashlight before leaving with the items.
A Life Church pastor reported to officers on Tuesday that he saw Danson standing at the intersection of Broadmoor Drive and Dickerson Pike. Officers were able to confirm Danson as the suspect from photos taken by the pastor because he was wearing the same clothing as the burglar in the surveillance video, officials said.
Danson was brought in for an interview with Metro police, during which he reportedly told them he planned to go to the church to steal the guitar Saturday. He said he entered through the side window and took the guitar, a drill and a microphone. According to reports, Danson said he stole the items to help pay for a motel.
Danson was booked into Metro jail on a $22,000 bond and charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft.
