NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 16-year-old faces charges after he allegedly pulled out a gun while another student was taking pictures inside the bathroom of a Nashville high school.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said they were alerted about the incident after a fellow student came forward on Monday, Feb. 3, showing pictures that were taken in a bathroom at Stratford STEM Magnet School.
The student said the incident happened last week as he was taking selfies in the mirror. He added that at some point, a 16-year-old, who he did know, asked if he could take a picture with him, police said.
It was then that the 16-year-old allegedly pulled out a pistol from his backpack to show in the photo. The student allegedly told police he doesn’t know why he waited a week to tell officers about what happened.
According to the MNPD, the 16-year-old was “quickly identified” based on the photos and was taken into custody Wednesday morning. He allegedly had a BB gun in possession, but did not have the firearm that was seen in the selfies.
