NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — More than a year after a Nashville man died from an overdose, another man has been charged with murder for selling him drugs, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
In a press release, the MNPD announced Bobby Joe Love Jr., 36, was arrested on a second-degree murder indictment Friday.
On Jan. 2, 2024, 38-year-old Nathan McEwen was found deceased in an apartment on Pennington Avenue in East Nashville. According to reports, investigators found drugs in his wallet, and the Medical Examiner’s Office determined he died from fentanyl and cocaine intoxication.
After an investigation by Neighborhood Safety detectives, Love was identified as the person who allegedly sold drugs to McEwen before his death, officials said.
On January 31, Metro police attempted to arrest Love outside his workplace on 19th Avenue South; however, he led them on a foot pursuit and was detained shortly afterward.
The MNPD said Love was previously convicted of several felonies, including aggravated assault and unlawful gun possession (2017), facilitating aggravated robbery (2014) and car burglary (2008).
He is being held in Metro jail on a $110,000 bond.
