NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Are you ready for an “un-fur-gettable” game next weekend? The Nashville Zoo and the Nashville Humane Association (NHA) are preparing for adoptable puppies to hit the field for the Music City Puppy Bowl!
According to the zoo, attendees will be able to enjoy good music, learn more about the NHA, visit with local pet-friendly businesses, and watch some “tail-wagging touchdowns” during the “cutest game in town!”
Officials said the Music City Puppy Bowl will take place at the Ajax Turner Wild Works Amphitheater on Sunday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the game kicking off at noon. The event is included with general admission or membership.
“Our two adorable teams will battle it out on the turf to see who reaches their end zone enough times to take home the 2025 trophy,” the Nashville Zoo wrote on its website.
Partners will reportedly be on-site throughout the afternoon to discuss local pet-friendly activities, as well as the importance of spaying and neutering. Guests can also meet the adoptable 2025 “athletes” photographed below — which will only be on-site starting at 10 a.m. on Feb. 9 — and learn about other pets available for adoption at the NHA, according to organizers.
In addition, the zoo said TailGate Brewery and Nashville Sweet Tea Company will offer drinks while Mix 92.9 provides guest referees, commentating live throughout the event.
Officials said pets are not permitted to accompany their owners to this event, except for service animals. Furthermore, people are not allowed to leave their pets in vehicles within the zoo’s parking lot.
For those who end up adopting any of the “athletes,” pickup will be arranged from the NHA by 2 p.m. in the zoo parking lot. Organizers said the puppies’ new families will also get to leave with a care package, courtesy of the Nashville Zoo and its community partners.
In addition to this “paws-itively cute” event, the zoo said it’s also hosting its annual Souper Bowl Food Drive next week, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. When the public donates at least four shelf-stable food items, the zoo will provide complimentary general admission tickets (up to two tickets per household/donation), but admission is not required to donate food.
According to officials, the Nashville Zoo will collect donations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8. All donations must be in a sealed container with an expiration date that’s at least a month away.
