WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two schools in Wilson County were placed on a “soft lockdown” as a precaution after online threats Monday.
Both Green Hill High School and W.A. Wright Elementary were placed on “soft lockdown” around 12:30 p.m.
District spokesperson Bart Barker said threats via social media were being investigated by the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).
The lockdowns were a precautionary measure and there is no active or direct threat at either school, according to Barker. The lockdown was recommended to the district by the WCSO.
WCSO investigators added additional security at Green Hill High School and the lockdown at W.A. Wright Elementary was activated only due to its proximity to GHHS.
No additional information was immediately released.
A 16-year-old girl was killed last week at Antioch High School when a shooter opened fire inside the cafeteria. He then turned the gun on himself. Antioch students are expected to return to class Tuesday.
At least six people have been charged with making threats against schools across Middle Tennessee since the Antioch shooting.
