RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) charged an 87-year-old man in connection with his wife’s death.
In a Facebook post, the RCSO said John Sorace was charged with reckless homicide. An investigation into the case is ongoing.
“The charges stem from an investigation into the death of his wife Jan. 9 at their Rutherford County home,” Det. Captain Todd Sparks said in the post.
A Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) spokesperson confirmed to News 2 that Sorace is a former Asst. Chief under Chief Joe Casey. Casey was chief from 1974-1989, but exactly when Sorace was assistant chief is unknown.
As of publication, Sorace is being held on a $700,000 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing has been set for Feb. 24 in General Sessions Court.
