NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) handled hundreds of crashes, including several deadly ones, amid a statewide winter storm.
The snowstorm brought dangerous road conditions to the Volunteer State, THP said in a Facebook post just after 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, adding that the agency has “worked around the clock to keep Tennesseans safe.”
According to officials, THP has responded to 648 crashes, including 518 that caused property damage, 127 that led to injuries, and three that resulted in death(s).
In addition, THP said its troopers have helped 874 stranded motorists while its dispatchers have handled 1,708 calls from people in need of assistance.
Authorities said THP troopers “braved the harsh conditions to provide critical support to drivers, clear roadways, and respond to emergencies.”
“I want to thank our sister agencies with TDOT and TEMA, and the local agencies that have provided great service and excellent partners for us,” THP Maj. Travis Plotzer said in a video the agency shared on Facebook.
