RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Several agencies — including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) — have started investigating a Rutherford County house fire that claimed two lives Thursday.
Just before 3 a.m., crews from the Rutherford County Fire Rescue, the Rutherford County Emergency Service, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and Almaville Volunteer Fire Rescue were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 6500 block of Kari Drive.
A preliminary investigation found that two individuals did not escape and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Rutherford County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Rutherford County Fire Rescue units found a single-story structure on fire; firefighters worked to control the blaze, but the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to respond to the scene. Additionally, as water iced the roadway, the Rutherford County Highway Department was also called.
The identities of those killed in the fire have not yet been released to the public. The incident remains under investigation by the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office, which was assisted by the Murfreesboro Fire Marshal’s Office and the ATF.
