NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — News 2 had a blast visiting beautiful light displays across Middle Tennessee.
Between stunning images sent in by viewers and the hard work of News 2’s photographers, a dozen gorgeous displays were enjoyed by all.
Some of those displays, like London’s Lights and the Festival of Trees in Merriwether Park, got into the holiday spirit by honoring loved ones lost and raising donations for area food banks.
One Columbia display also leaned in to the holiday by raising donations for foster children in need. The Oranges use their light display to help raise donations for the Church of the City Wrap Around Closet, which helps dozens of families every month have the supplies they need to raise a foster child.
Director of the Wrap Around Closet, Stacey Glass, told News 2 she’s passionate about her work because of her past with the foster care system.
“Our goal is is to help go against statistics,” Glass told News 2. “One of the things I get to do on a daily basis is I get to bless people with the things that they need — things that they need for their kids to be able to look just like every other kid at school.”
The Oranges, who put on this drive for the fourth year in a row, first met Glass when they visited the Wrap Around Closet themselves. Kirsten Orange said she had relatives in foster care; she and her husband Ryan said they were grateful to be able to give back to the organization that helped them so much.
In addition to these displays, there were others across Middle Tennessee with equally stunning and meaningful displays of holiday lights.
News 2 thanks everyone for sending their submissions and wishes you a de-light-fully happy holiday season!
