RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A high school band in Rutherford County has been selected to perform in Washington D.C. as part of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
According to Rutherford County Schools, Stewarts Creek High School band was selected by the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee to perform in the 60th Presidential Inaugural Parade on Jan. 20.
“This invitation is a true testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of our students,” said Clark Harrell, principal of Stewarts Creek High School. “We’re thrilled to showcase our students at such a prominent national performance and grateful for the ongoing support from the school and community.”
The band will represent the town of Smyrna, Rutherford County Schools, Tennessee, and will join groups who were selected across the nation.
However, to meet the travel and performance costs associated with the opportunity, the band is seeking donations from the community, alumni and local businesses.
According to the high school, funds are needed for “considerable travel expenses for our group of 200.”
