Burrel “Chip” Davis was charged with aggravated stalking and given a $3,000 bond out of Rutherford County, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said. No further details on the circumstances surrounding the charges were immediately released.
Davis was decertified earlier this month following a recommendation from the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST). The recommendation came in connection to a 2023 sex scandal that rocked the La Vergne Police Department; five officers were fired following the incident.
Davis claimed he was not involved in the scandal and sued the city of La Vergne for reinstatement and back pay earlier this year.
