According to the Franklin Police Department, the crash happened on Sunday, Jan. 5 at approximately 8:44 a.m. at the intersection of Nashville and Macedonia Roads.
Officials said a preliminary investigation indicates that a Simpson County International snowplow truck pulled out of Macedonia Road onto Nashville Road into the path of a 2016 Buick SUV.
The driver of the Buick —identified as 89-year-old from Portland, Tennessee— struck the snowplow. Police said the 89-year-old driver and his 82-year-old passenger, also from Portland, sustained injuries. Both were reportedly taken to the Medical Center of Franklin by Franklin Simpson EMS.
However, the 82-year-old woman was later sent to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the 68-year-old driver of the snowplow was also injured in the crash and was taken to the Medical Center of Franklin in a private vehicle.
Simpson County officials urged drivers to stay off the roadways over the weekend, warning of “icy road conditions.”
