NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two teenagers were arrested over the weekend in connection with several vehicle burglaries in The Gulch, according to Metro police.
Arrest records show Markese Todd, 18, and Marquise Johnson, 19, are charged with multiple counts of felony vehicle burglary after the incident.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers received reports of the sound of broken glass from vehicles being broken into by two men in the 600 block of Division Street just after midnight.
When officers arrived, Todd and Johnson were reportedly walking away from the scene. When the pair saw officers they turned into an alleyway near the parking lot before separating.
After a brief search, Todd was located by one of the officers and commanded to stop. He allegedly proceeded to run away, but stopped after reaching a dead end. When officers caught up to him he was reportedly compliant with their requests and placed under arrest. A black jacket, ski mask and white gloves were found a few feet away from where Todd was arrested, reports said.
Johnson also fled the scene and was eventually found lying on the ground in a gravel lot behind an abandoned building. He reportedly attempted to run away again after being found, and a brief chase ensued before he was caught and arrested.
Authorities reportedly found a Mason jar with 10 grams of marijuana, broken glass and a nicotine vape on Johnson, according to court records. While searching the area where Johnson was hiding, officers found gloves and a pink tool used to break car windows.
A total of four cars were found burglarized in the parking lot where the break-ins were reported.
Todd is detained in Metro jail on a $44,000 bond and charged with the following:
- Four counts of motor vehicle burglary- Felony
- Evading arrest- Midemeanor
Johnson is also detained in Metro jail on a $52,000 bond and charged with:
- Four counts of motor vehicle burglary- Felony
- Substance possession- Misdemeanor
- Evading arrest- Misdemeanor
- Possession of burglary tools- Misdemeanor
