NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville detectives took two teenagers into custody Sunday afternoon for separate cases involving electronic threats against the principals of their respective schools.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the first investigation started on Saturday, Jan. 25 and resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old girl from Antioch High School — the same school where two students died after a shooting earlier in the week — for posting an Instagram threat against her principal. She is charged at Juvenile Court with communicating a threat to a school official.
In the second case, a 13-year-old boy from Madison Middle School is accused of emailing threats to his principal on Sunday, Jan. 26, according to authorities. He is also charged at Juvenile Court with communicating a threat to a school official.
Since the deadly shooting at Antioch High on Wednesday, Jan. 22, law enforcement said six other Nashville students — including two 12-year-olds and two 13-year-olds — have been arrested for separate, unrelated threat cases.
“Threats against schools, their administrators and staff, and community institutions are taken very seriously by the MNPD,” officials said. “Those responsible, once identified, will be prosecuted.”
