SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two people were taken into custody Thursday night after a stolen truck was used to ram a Goodlettsville police cruiser and lead Sumner County deputies on a chase, officials said.
According to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, the Goodlettsville Police Department discovered a stolen vehicle parked at the Red Roof Inn on Thursday, Jan. 23. However, when officers tried to detain the occupants, the driver allegedly rammed their patrol vehicle and fled.
After a BOLO was issued to surrounding agencies, Sumner County deputies spotted a vehicle matching the description on Highway 386. Authorities said they tried to stop the truck, but the driver fled again, leading to a brief pursuit.
Officials said other deputies deployed stop sticks, bringing the vehicle to a stop. Both the driver and his passenger — identified by law enforcement as Sean Charles Greer Martin and Monterious Hardison-Harrison, respectively — were arrested.
Authorities reportedly found multiple firearms, including a 50-round magazine, inside the truck.
“I want to personally commend the bravery and professionalism of our deputies and thank the Hendersonville and Gallatin Police Departments for their support,” Sumner County Sheriff Eric Craddock said in a statement. “This incident is a testament to the strong partnerships we share in keeping our communities safe. Let this serve as a reminder—our agencies will always work together to bring those who threaten the safety of our communities to justice.”
According to inmate records from the sheriff’s office, the 18-year-old driver is being held for evading arrest by motor vehicle; child abuse/neglect or endangerment; reckless endangerment; attempted theft of property worth $1,000 to $2,500; and kidnapping.
However, as of 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, the passenger’s name isn’t included on the list of current inmates in Sumner County.
No additional details have been released about Thursday night’s incident.
